Affirmations are true phrases that speak to who you are at your very essence and reinforce your place in the world.
They’re also another great way to invite in positive energy.
Usually starting with I am…, affirmations help you create the reality you desire. Anything you say after I am tends to be reinforced.
If you’re prone to saying things like “I am always so tired” or “I am always late” you’re affirming that state.
Be aware of the things you’re thinking about yourself. What your mind focuses on becomes real.
Here are some examples from Five Minutes in the Morning:
- I am in control of my own life. I know my path.
- I have a loving family and friends who support me.
- Today is going to be a good day, filled with joy.
- I allow myself to be happy and share my happiness with others.
- I choose to be proud of myself.
Set a timer for five minutes and write down such phrases. Then, say them aloud each morning.
I’ve used affirmations since 2018 or so, and I still use them today. Some of these I say as soon as I wake up. Some I say while looking in the mirror. Some I say before I step outside for the day. Some are brand new for this post!
Here’s what I wrote:
I am connected to the Heavens.

I draw in unconditional Love of Self.
I draw in nonjudgement.
I am so happy & thankful for this day & for all that it offers me.
I am abundant & lack nothing – I cannot lack what is already mine.
I am confident.
