“The man who removes a mountain begins by carrying away small stones”

– Chinese proverb

Now that you’ve identified your goals (congrats btw!), it’s time to figure out how you’re going to accomplish them. Five Minutes in the Morning recommends breaking them down into smaller, achievable steps – the smaller, the better!

Protip: Much like a staircase, you can take these steps two at a time.

Get a fresh sheet of paper and write your goal at the top.

Then, write a sentence about how you will achieve it.

Now list what that will involve in your day-to-day life.

Repeat for each of your goals.

For example, the book says if your goal is to lose weight and your plan is to do so by moving more and eating healthier, the day-to-day should be broken down into smaller goals. Monday, take the stairs instead of the escalator (or if you’re working from home, go for a walk around the block after work ends). Tuesday, take a salad instead of buying Arby’s for the fifth time in as many days. Wednesday, go for a 20-minute run after work. And so on.

Keep your eyes on where your next step will land, not the mountaintop.

Here’s what I wrote for my goals:

  1. Get my own place
I will save enough for first, last & security deposit. I will reassess my timeline once I get my first few paychecks. I will find other ways to save (go back to meal prep and buying groceries to make lunches instead of buying food out). I will consider other ways to make income (Tarot, freelance writing).
  2. Get a car
Much of the same as above. I will research different kinds of cars & ways to buy. I will research the best time to buy a car. I will think about my needs for a car & think of cars that support that.
  3. Improve my relationship with money
Make a commitment to spend more on experiences than things. Request the Tony Robbins book about money & look into other such books (Think and Grow Rich). Find communities that are dedicated to money management & improving financial literacy.
  4. Meet 100 demons this year
I set the intention to do shadow work @ least twice a week. I will be kind if I can’t tho. I’ve already met 15, & I am so grateful for the Allies I’ve transformed the demons into. I will be flexible about when I can do shadow work.
  5. Contribute to the improvement of the world
Find volunteer opportunities. Donate to an organization I care about @ least twice a month – ideally one each week. Become the Highest expression of Love & Light

What steps will you be taking today, dear reader? Let me know in the comments below!
