“Well begun is half done.”
– Aristotle
Like we talked about yesterday, goals give us a map to the destination of our dreams.
But it’s important to find the balance between reaching your goals and not being so rigidly attached to their outcomes.
It’s a struggle, I know.
To help you set successful goals, Five Minutes in the Morning suggests you start with three questions:
- What do I really want?
- Why do I want it?
- What actions do I need to take?
Set a timer for five minutes, look at the goals you chose yesterday and answer these questions for one of them. If you’re feeling ambitious, do answer them for all your goals!
Here’s what I wrote for my first goal – Get My Own Place:
- What do I really want?
It goes back to autonomy, solitude, a sanctuary @ the end of the day – & really a place where I can be naked all the time. I love being naked. - Why do I want it?
I suppose it’s an element of control. To know that the messes I make are mine, that I can come & go without having to check in with anyone. To have a place that is totally about resetting, regrowth & revitalization. - What actions do I need to take?
I’m saving. I’m working full-time & thinking about other sources of income. I got my first paycheck Friday & that has given me a better idea of a timeline. I know the Universe is not lacking apartments or places to rent. The details of where & when don’t matter.
What about your goals, dear reader? What answers did you get for these questions? Let me know in the comments below!
I hope you had a wonderful weekend, and I hope the week ahead is exactly what it needs to be for your continued growth.
